0202 Mr Paul Rooney

Paul Rooney,

Network Director and Senior Lecturer

Paul Rooney is an environmental geographer and Senior Lecturer at Liverpool Hope University. He is the founder and Director of the Sand Dune and Shingle Network. Paul is regarded as an international expert in coastal sand dune conservation and management, and is research active and widely published in this area. Before joining academia in 1999, Paul worked for 12 years with the award winning Sefton Coast Management Scheme on the largest open dune system in England, and was the Project Officer for the Sefton Coast EU co-financed LIFE-Nature Project.

 John Houston

John Houston,

Network Officer

John Houston is a self-employed environmental consultant mainly involved in monitoring EU funded LIFE projects in the UK and Ireland. His special interest is in dune ecology and management in the UK and north-west Europe and he has travelled extensively. He supported the establishment of the European Union for Dune Conservation in 1989 and focuses his current work on developing the European Dune Network. He also chairs the conservation advisory group for a coastal military site.

Emily De Noia is a Liverpool Hope University Geography graduate (2014). She is currently on an internship placement here within the geography department gathering crucial experience and helping run the network.
